ANDREWS UNIVERSITY INTRAMURALS
Eligibility: Limited to Current Andrews University Students Only
Sportsmanship: From the moment when the captains are called together for the coin toss until the conclusion of the game, the referees shall have the power to warn or disqualify for the game any player, substitute, coach or manager who commits in the referees opinion, any of the following gross violations of sportsmanship: [a] persistently addresses the officials in regards to decisions, [b] makes derogatory remarks about or to the officials, [c] commits acts derogatory to the officials or attempting to influence their decisions or to deceive them, [d] makes personal and derogatory remarks about or to opponents, [e] commits audible comment or visible display derogatory to the game. Athletic Director Kevin Wooldridge, intramural coordinator Jamie Stacey, or their designee reserves the right to eject a player even if an official doesn’t.
Any player that is ejected from the game has one minute to leave the area or their team will forfeit the game. The ejected player is ineligible to participate in their next scheduled game. They cannot participate in any game until meeting with the Athletic Director, Kevin Wooldridge. If a warning has already been issued to the offending player and his captain and further problems occur, both player and captain could be ejected from the remainder of the current season.
A high level of sportsmanship is expected from all players. Please remember that the reason for playing is to have fun, build lasting friendships, get some exercise and to represent yourself in a Christlike manner.
A sportsmanship rating scale will be used for all intramural contests. A team must have a cumulative score of 4.0 to participate in any post season tournament. The sportsmanship rating will be issued at the end of each game and recorded in IMLeagues so you will know exactly where your team is at. The following is the rating scale.
- 5 - No complaints. Opponents, Teammates and officials treated respectfully.
- 4.5 - 2 or less incidents of Non-verbal disagreement with calls.
- 4 - Verbal disagreement with calls or obvious Non-verbal acts of frustration towards Opponents, Teammates or Officials.
- 3- Frequent objections to calls.
- 2- Frequent complaining, obvious acts of frustration and/or belligerent attitude.
- 1- Player’s ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct.
